How to Optimize Your Brain in 10 Minutes
Here are the steps:
How can you optimize your brain in just 10 minutes? Through some exercises from BrainGym™.
Through effectively allowing us to separate ourselves from ruminating on past events and failures, brings us right into the present moment.
This is especially helpful when we may suffer from PTSD, to know that right now, focused in this moment, you are safe and able to make good choices toward what you want in life.
Conduct an experiment in changing your thoughts
First doing a brain dump, taking one minute to write down all the thoughts in your head – as many as you can in a minute.
Do PACE – Positive, Action, Clarity, Energy from Brain Gym™
Drink Water – rehydrating your brain to think more clearly
Hold Brain Buttons – stimulate the limbic system to calm mood and memories.
Have your feet flat on the floor. Place thumb and forefinger on your collar bone, on both sides of the sternum, tongue to roof of mouth. Close your eyes, take a deep, conscious breath, and gently rub the collar bone points. Keep your tongue to the roof of the mouth, to stimulate the brain stem. Repeat for 30-60 seconds.
Cross Crawls – integrating left and right brain
Touch left knee with right hand, then right knee with left hand, alternating 20 times. Do this with opposite hands, alternately touching one elbow then the other for 20 times. Keep your tongue to the roof of the mouth.
Hook-ups – Calm the sympathetic nervous system, anxiety, PTSD, & ‘future tripping’, to bring you right into the present moment
Part 1 – Cross ankles, and cross arms, with fingers touching the shoulders, keeping tongue to the roof of mouth. Continue until you feel a shift in your energy and can breathe deeply.
Part 2 – Have feet flat on floor. Connect acupressure points by putting fingertips together in your lap.
Note: Although not part of original Brain Gym, if you like, you can add in visualizing the energy traveling up your hands to wrists, up lower arms, up upper arms, over the shoulders, down through the back and out the base of your spine, sending a cord of energy into the earth.
Write It Down
Now write down all the thoughts in your head, without manufacturing them, just what’s there right after doing the exercise. Do you see a difference? This is what being focused feels like. You are in the present moment, where all things are possible.
