Manifesting from the Heart
Have you ever tried manifesting something, and it didn’t work? Why is that?
It turns out that the brain cannot distinguish between thoughts and reality – in other words, what you think is what the brain accepts as the truth.
So, if you are caught up in the struggle of thinking “I can’t get the promotion I deserve”, “I’ll always struggle”, “I’ll never have enough energy”, etc. it’s no wonder that things don’t work out the way you want them to.
The brain accepts this, and reinforces it every time you think it. In fact, metaphysicians know that all thought is creative, so you are literally creating your own experience of life with every thought.
So How Can I Change It?
Wait! If the brain thinks that’s true, does that mean I’ll be stuck in that rut? Take heart, there’s an easy and very effective way to turn the brain around toward the positive.
Gratitude
Have you guessed how you can turn the brain around and get out of your own way? It’s called gratitude.
We’re used to associating the heart with feeling passion, and now positive psychologists are looking at the effects of feeling grateful.
This emotional state is communicated throughout the body by the heart’s electromagnetic field, and as the brain is activated, it produces more dopamine and serotonin.
A sense of well-being increases and being in this emotionally positive state opens us to receiving, so that we manifest that which you desire more easily.
The Law of Spiritual Increase says that that which you focus on increases.
The Law of Attraction, made famous in the documentary The Secret, which summed this up as “thoughts become things.”
The Magic 5
Here’s a simple gratitude exercise to try, optimally for 21 days in a row:
At the end of each day, come up with a list of 10 things you are grateful for, and say them aloud. Make sure you say not only that you are grateful, but also how good it makes you feel and why. For instance: “I am so grateful for the beautiful food I fix for myself. It gives me so much joy to put this nourishing food in my body.”
Then come up with 5 things that you want to manifest. Blogger and spiritual guru Z Egloff, at ohmygodlife.com, calls these “The Magic 5.” Say each of these aloud, as if they have already come true, following the example above, with all the gratitude and emotions you’ll have when it comes to be.
Here are some samples:
- I am so grateful to awaken with renewed energy, truly enjoying my work. (Actually picture yourself feeling happy and grateful) I love having a job where I am seen, recognized and appreciated.
- I am empowered as I quickly retrain my thoughts, bringing myself back to affirm that right now I am relatively well; right now, I am safe; right now I am happy to be alive.”
Even if this is a stretch for you, try it and see what happens. It turns out that this exercise of even looking for things to be grateful makes your brain happy and has positive benefits in your relationships as well. The more happy you feel, the more successful you’ll be at manifesting your heart’s desires.
