Steps to Create Your Future
While it is important to stay focused in the moment,
it’s also good to do some soul searching for what you want to create in the future.
Perhaps you have been longing to stretch your wings and fly in a different direction in one or more areas of life. You could consider changing careers, taking a dream vacation, or even going on retreat to connect more closely with the Divine.
Look into the future and ask yourself who you would like to be in one year, two years, and five years.
Journal your fantasies or the images you have of yourself doing something that you love.
This process plants those little seeds of self-confidence that can grow into your life’s work.
Pay attention to what seems like coincidences that always happen in threes.
Perhaps different people will say the same thing three times or will direct you to a book or you’ll notice signs that have a message that touches you.
The following exercises were designed by Carol Ritberger, Ph.D, of the Ritberger Media Group, to help you define your heart’s desire and go for it.
Your ‘I’ll do it someday’ list
List all of the things you would like to do before you kick the bucket. Why wait? Why not do it now? Write down one thing on your Bucket List you can do within the next six months.
Connect to your inner guidance system
Some inner part of you knows what’s right and what must change. Allowing for that internal guidance to surface requires you to create time and space for it to reveal itself and show you the way.
Let go of the “should have, could have, would have” excuses that hold you back.
Take time to envision the future –
You don’t need to spend thousands of dollars or go on a hunger fast. Go camping, stay in a cabin, go hiking, rent a house on the beach, meditate where it’s quiet and secluded.
Avoid distractions. That means no other people, no TV, radio, or books to read as a diversion.
Spend your time thinking, meditating, writing in your journal, listening to or playing music, and being close to nature.
Ritualize your intention by inventing your own ceremony.
Allow dreams to inform you –
This process is very powerful. Before retiring at night, spend some time asking for guidance to discover your life’s calling. Think intensely about your question, about what you want to do, what you’re longing for, and about how you want things to change.
Affirm that you will remember and get guidance through your dreams. In the morning write down your dreams. Sustain this practice until the dream comes with the answer that you’re searching for. It may not happen the first night but don’t give up, it will come.
Once you get clear, you’ll recognize how much of your life you are postponing. Don’t let logistics hold you back. The Universe will line up the details, if you do the inner work and take action.
