It’s All In Your Head – Working with The Mind to Manifest Success & Happiness
In the groundbreaking work, The Master Key System, Charles F. Haanel writes:
“Some men seem to attract success, power, wealth, attainment, with very little conscious effort; others conquer with great difficulty; still others fail altogether to reach their ambitions, desires and ideals. Why is this so? Why should some men realize their ambitions easily, others with difficulty, and still others not at all?”
When you are on the brink of success and happiness, do you find yourself influenced by the pessimistic internal judge that says ‘it will never work out”? Do you find yourself thinking, why them and not me? It could be your brain’s subconscious is in the way!
It’s not your fault.
As a child, you learned to see the world and your relation to it through the filters of others.
If you were given support, told that you could accomplish anything, you were born into a more successful mindset.
However, if you grew up with criticism, beaten down to believe that you would never be good enough, smart enough, and that you’d always struggle through life, that may just be what you manifested.
Although this mindset becomes the smudgy glasses that the subconscious views life through, you CAN turn it around – by changing the way you think, thereby changing the path to destiny.
“Every thought brings into action certain parts of the brain. Therefore it is only necessary to have a certain number of thoughts on a given subject in order to bring about a complete change.”
“This is the process by which failure is changed to success. Thoughts of courage, power, inspiration, harmony, are substituted for thoughts of failure, despair, lack, limitation and discord, and as these thoughts take root, the physical tissue is changed and the individual sees life in a new light.”Changing your thoughts is easier said than done, particularly if you’ve been conditioned to see the glass as half empty, and you can be your own worst critic. According to Ernest Holmes, ALL thought is creative. Take a minute to think about what you are thinking and, quite possibly, creating in your own life.* — The Master Key
The Master Key goes deeper into the source of what we are creating for ourselves by saying,
“We are related to the world within by the subconscious mind. The solar plexus is the organ of this mind; the sympathetic system of nerves presides over all subjective sensations, such as joy, fear, love, emotion, respiration, imagination, and all other subconscious phenomena. It is through the subconscious that we are connected with the Universal Mind and brought into relation with the Infinite constructive forces of the Universe.”
Science tells us that the subconscious resides in the amygdala, the oldest part of our brain.
This is where is the most primitive, pre-verbal brain, known as the “lizard brain” resides.
Because it is primitive, it is also very reactionary, signaling alarm when old traumas are triggered or new fears and anxiety arise.
Scientists estimate that 85% of what you think, say, and do is filtered through the subconscious, so the Lizard Brain’s fears, and often misguided attempts to protect you, really affect what you see and attract in life.
So how can you keep your negative, critical mind from throwing up roadblocks?
There are a number of ways. Brain exercises, from Brain Gym™, specifically those exercises known as PACE, calm the Limbic System to ease mood and memory, create more communication between left and right brains, and soothe the Sympathetic Nervous System, that part of the lizard brain that signals us to fight, flee, or freeze.
My next article will show you how to do these 10 minute exercises to optimize your brain.
